WHAT’S IN A NAME?
THERE IS NO OTHER NAME WHEREBY MEN CAN BE SAVED OTHER THAN THE NAME OF JESUS.
JESUS CHRIST, THE ANOINTED ONE AND HIS ANOINTING
During biblical times (approximately 2166 BC to 69 AD), names were thought to be indicative of a person’s attributes, character, personality, emotions and/or related to his future. Consequently, they were not randomly chosen, but were selected with the greatest of care.
Old Testament (Old Convenant) names for God include, but are not limited to: Adonai (Lord), Elohim (Strong One), and Jehovah (YHWH, I AM THAT I AM). The seven redemptive names for God describe His attributes and include:
Jehovah Jirah I AM YOUR PROVIDER
Jehovah Nissi I AM YOUR BANNER
Jehovah Shalom I AM YOUR PEACE
Jehovah Rapha I AM YOUR HEALER
The New Testament (New Convenant) sums up all of the names for God in the name of our Lord and savior JESUS CHRIST, THE ANOINTED ONE AND HIS ANOINTING.
The Bible further states, “FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED”. Romans 10:11. The convenant or binding agreement further states, “THAT IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH THE LORD JESUS, AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD HATH RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU SHALL BE SAVED”. Romans 10:9
So what is salvation? Salvation is defined as the deliverance of a person or his soul from the power or penalty of SIN (American Heritage Dictionary). Additionally, salvation also means that you have been adopted into God’s family via Jesus who became the propitiation or saving atonement for you. (HE PAID THE RANSOM FOR YOU).
The New Testament Greek word for salvation (soteria) encompasses definitions such as : provision, deliverance, safety, peace, prosperity, and health.
Do you notice any similarities between the Old Testament names that are used for God and the New Testament Greek definitions for salvation?
The key to salvation is Jesus. “The good enough key”, “the good works key” ,and “the good life key” won’t unlock the door to peace, joy, happiness, deliverance, safety, prosperity and health while here on earth and assure eternal life forever. JESUS SAID,” I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIGHT, NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT BY ME”.
The Word of God states,“ But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even those who believed on His name“. John 1:12.
Just think about it to be safe forever..why not take a chance.
GOD LOVES YOU AND WE LOVE YOU. WHY DON’T YOU ACCEPT JESUS TODAY AND BECOME ONE OF THE FAMILY? COME AND GET YOUR NEW NAME. GO FROM SINNER TO SAINT. BECOME GOD’S FAVORITE TODAY.
There are three (3) things you must do.
1. Repent - to turn around and go in a new direction -
2. Believe-Jesus died and rose for us -
3. Confess- We must say what we believe - what the Bible says about us.
PRAYER OF SALVATION:
God: I am a sinner in need of a savior, I repent and ask you to forgive me of all my sins. I am sorry for the things I’ve done that hurt You. Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God and that You died for my sins. I believe that you were buried and rose again as it is written in the Bible. Come into my heart, take charge of my life and make me the way You want me to be. With Your ever present help, I renounce all my sinful practices of the past. Cleanse my heart with your precious blood. Write my name in Your Book of Life. I confess You now Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
