The Gifts of the Spirit

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice ; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

There are nine (9) Gifts of the Spirit.  Within the nine (9) Gifts of the Spirit, there are three (3) groups:  revelation, power and inspiration.  There are diversities of gifts, but all three (3) groups flow from only one (1) Source: the Holy Spirit of God.

Diversities of the Gifts

Revelation Gifts
     Word of Wisdom
The revealing of the prophetic future under the anointing of God.  In the Old
Testament every seer (the former term for prophet) and every prophet who foretold
the future was endowed with this gift.  A word of God's wisdom is just that:  a
word.  When God gives you a word of His wisdom.  He gives only a fragment.

     Examples:  Noah,Gen 6:12-13; Daniel; Ezekiel, Ez.38-39;David, Ps2 and 22; Joel; Isaiah,
     Is.53; Mat 24; Luke 21; Mark 13Paul, Acts 23:11.

     How Wisdom is Manifested:
Joseph - interpreting of a dream of the future
     Daniel - night vision
Ezekiel - caught away into the Spirit for a revelation
John - was caught up in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and the entire book of Revelation flashed before him.

God has no set way of dealing with the problems of this world.  He unveils hidden mysteries and the wisdom to execute His counsels in the way He considers best at that time. This gift does not have to function the same way each time.

Power Gifts
God imparts His own powers and abilities to man. The gifts of power involve supernatural ability and energy that man does not naturally possess.  Many of the spiritual gifts are like a chain.  Each is linked together with others in such a way that when you pull one, you are pulling the whole load.  Sometimes it is difficult to divide the links and distinguish between them because they are so interrelated.  We see this especially in the gifts of power.

     Gifts of Healing
     Working of Miracles
Inspiration Gifts
     Gift of Prophecy
     Gift of Tongues

Differences in Administration
Example:  It may cost Dr. Billy Graham $50 million to run his evangelistic association for a whole year, while a little country preacher may not pay more than $500 a year to run his church for the same time frame.  What is the difference? Their administrations are not the same.  Dr. Graham may reach millions in one year while the little country preacher may not reach more than 40 people all year.  Remember, whether you are part of a megachurch or a small assembly, God has not respect of person.  He has countless times given us a subject to be ministered on  or a revelation in the Spirit in our prayer closet; we in turn would hear the same subject or revelation, coming from a more world known minister later on in that month or year.  GOD WILL NOT LEAVE YOU BEHIND IN ANY GOOD THING IF YOU ABIDE IN HIM.
Sidebar:  The Lord has told me not to count the people for it is sin (remember what happened to David).

Diversities in Operations

The Gifts bring Profit
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.(1 Cor. 12:7)
To manifest means to show. When God gives you something, it is a good thing.  It is a plus, not a minus, and there is profit or benefit behind it.

Unity in the Body

Covet the Best Gift
1 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!9 Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!10 But when full understanding comes, these partial things will become useless.
